Services Description
Root canal treatment eliminates bacteria from an infected root canal, prevents reinfection of the tooth, and saves the natural tooth. During the root canal procedure, the infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed.
Getting a root canal is a similar dental procedure to a routine filling and can usually be completed in one or two appointments. Getting a root canal is relatively painless (using local anesthesia) and extremely effective.

If you think you need a root canal, talk to your dentist about the procedure and any other options available.
In some cases, an alternative option to endodontic treatment is to have the tooth extracted. In most cases, it is recommended to have the tooth replaced, either with a bridge, implant, or partial denture.
It is important to have a plan for replacing the tooth, if appropriate, before having the tooth extracted whenever possible. In some cases, impressions can be taken before the tooth is extracted to aid in making the new tooth more similar to your previous tooth.
